If you drive north from San Diego on Interstate 5 for about four hours, and then make a few twists and turns, you will arrive in Kern County. The mostly agricultural area is famous for its vegetables and fruits, but is also known as a significant producer of oil, solar power, wind power and hydro-electric power.
It was just a year ago that California developers to the north of San Diego were celebrating the topping out of the massive, three-tower Oceanwide Plaza project. Now construction work on the Los Angeles development has come to a complete stop, news sources say.
One side says cracks began forming in the structures before they were even finished. The cracks are said to allow water to seep in and make matters worse. The other side counters that the owner was negligent and should be required to pay some or all of repair costs.
